Keynote Speakers

Crystal Kirgiss has been working with students for over 30 years, both in public schools, church ministry, parachurch ministry, camps, and the court system. She speaks to teens, young adults, parents, and people of all ages about issues ranging from culture to faith to parenting to literature to C.S. Lewis to the Bible and more. She is passionate about guiding people deeply into God’s word, about helping parents understand their children, about helping teens fall in love with Jesus, about leading people towards a genuine life of discipleship, about reviving passion for good books, and about living life with joy, grace, and enthusiasm.

Crystal has written over 10 books on a variety of topics, was an award-winning newspaper columnist before the era of blogs, wrote two monthly columns for Youthwalk Magazine for 10 years, has been a core writer for various Bible editions (including The Way), teaches writing and literature at Purdue University (West Lafayette, Indiana), and leads WyldLife in her local community (Young Life’s ministry to middle school students). She and her husband Mark, a veteran youth worker, have three grown sons. Crystal was appointed as Vice President of Global Discipleship for Young Life in July 2018..

Mark Kirgiss has been ministering to adolescents and young adults for over 33 years. He has been in vocational youth ministry for 28 years. During the past 14 years, he has trained, mentored, and equipped hundreds of college students (Purdue University, Indiana) to do youth ministry with middle school and high school students. He aims to help all his college-aged leaders develop a vision for ministry that they will take with them into whatever vocational context they pursue. He’s committed to replacing the term “volunteer” with the title “youth leader” or “ministry leader.” He currently serves as a Senior Area Director for Young Life.
