Bethlehem College is a non-denominational, co-educational Christian College (Y1-13) that has established a reputation for providing quality Christian education. Christian thought and practice are integrated across its broad-based curriculum resulting in excellence in academics, sports, the performing arts and the shaping of moral leadership and service.

Bethlehem College Secondary comprises of Junior Secondary (Y7-9) and Senior Secondary (Y10-13).  The initial scope of this role is the learning and academic progress of senior students Y10 to 13. A willingness and ability to take part in religious instruction appropriate to Bethlehem College shall be a condition of appointment.

1.    Support the Head of Secondary in upholding the College’s Special Character by undertaking key responsibilities and actively engaging with students across a variety of activities.

2.    Provide leadership in partnership with the Head of Secondary and senior leaders, ensuring alignment with the College’s Christian values, curriculum, and strategic priorities.

3.    Lead the design, development, and implementation of programmes, policies, and procedures to enhance teaching, learning, and overall college operations.

4.    Foster collaborative relationships with staff, students, and families, promoting open communication and shared responsibility towards achieving the College’s vision.

5.    Cultivate a nurturing environment that encourages learning, wellbeing, and spiritual growth, with a balanced focus on academic achievement and personal development.

6.    Overseeing staff professional growth cycle and professional development, ensuring continuous improvement.

7.    Act on behalf of the Head of Secondary as required, making key decisions to maintain smooth operations in their absence.

8.    Manage exams, reporting, and curriculum planning as needed, aligning processes with the school’s educational priorities.

9.    Provide pastoral care and disciplinary support as required, fostering a respectful, caring environment consistent with Christian values.

10.  Ensure effective use of budget and material resources to support teaching and learning initiatives.

11.  Lead and Mentor a team of Curriculum Leads.

12.  Undertake additional responsibilities and portfolios in consultation with the Principal and Head of Secondary, adapting flexibly to the College’s changing needs.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will teach up to 0.4 FTE, demonstrating highly effective classroom management and organisation skills.
