Website Christian Community Churches of New Zealand

We are looking for a NATIONAL ADVISOR who can provide and oversee robust advisory services to CCCNZ churches and ministries in the areas of governance, administration, and finance.

Background:

CCCNZ is a service trust set up to serve the Open Brethren heritage/CCCNZ movement of churches and ministries. We do this primarily by connecting churches with each other for the purpose of strengthening their ministry. CCCNZ also provides a range of supports through national staff members who specialise in offering regional support, as well as specific ministry areas (pastoral, eldership, youth, children and families etc.). The National Advisor works within this staff team to serve and support local independent churches.

Advertised Role:

A successful candidate for the National Advisor role will require the following:

An established commitment to a local church and alignment with CCCNZ’s statement of belief, vision, mission and strategy.
Theological literacy and a passion for the gospel mission are important requirements.
Significant professional experience and qualifications in a relevant field such as policy, finance, law, or governance.
A self-motivated attitude, with the ability to manage personal workload with minimal supervision.
Cultural literacy is an important requirement. Engagement with TangataWhenua and Pasifika is integral to the gospel mission of CCCNZ.
Excellent communication skills. Both written and verbal skills are required. An ability to lead with enthusiastic, diplomatic, and encouraging language is needed.
Communication with a wide group of stakeholders is necessary. The ability to connect and relate to people from all walks of life is essential, as communication with a variety of church leaders and administrators is part of the role.
The ability to communicate complex ideas and advice to people in a variety of contexts in a way which enables and empowers them to put advice into effect for the benefit of their churches and ministries.
The role will require excellent relationship-building skills as you work with a diverse group of independent churches (including their elders and staff).
An existing knowledge of governance principles, company law, charity trust structures, finance, business management, and financial planning would all be valuable skills.
Proof of your ability to legally work in New Zealand is required prior to completing an application.

Ideally, this role will suit a proven, hands-on senior advisor or experienced professional. We understand some applicants may choose not to apply if a role isn’t a 100% match. We’d encourage you to apply anyway as there is a degree of flexibility and fit in the role that can be matched to the right candidate.

For example, the ideal location for the role is Palmerston North, with full-time hours. However, for the right candidate, we are open to being flexible on both hours and location.

Additional worthwhile skills include:

Experience in the Christian governance and leadership environment.
Understanding of the New Zealand charitable sector and involvement with volunteering.
Experience and a comfortable user of the MS Office suite of software, Cloud sharing platforms, Boardpro, etc.
To apply for this role, in the first instance please email your CV and cover letter to: Mark Grace, CCCNZ Ambassador markgrace@cccnz.nz

Prior to the interview, candidates will be sent a more detailed job description and a copy of the CCCNZ Statement Of Beliefs. The remuneration package will be discussed at an interview which will be undertaken by a panel of CCCNZ Staff and Board members. This role will require the candidate to consent to Police vetting. The NZ police vetting check is a formal document that includes a criminal background check and lists details about any convictions in New Zealand.

Applications close 16 October 2023.
