About the role

We are seeking a seasoned People & Culture Director to join CAP’s Executive Leadership Team. Reporting directly to the CEO and leading our people and culture function, you will play a pivotal role in shaping organisational strategy, strengthening culture, and driving people initiatives that enable the achievement of our vision of Ending Money Chaos in Aotearoa.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate strong end-to-end HR expertise, including recruitment, leadership development, remuneration, payroll, and health, safety and environment. You will be a leader who embodies head, heart and gut in your approach, skilfully balancing people priorities and organisational excellence.

As a member of CAP’s leadership team, you will confidently lead CAP’s karakia spaces and role model prayer across the organisation. You will be on your haerenga journey and bring passion for championing and deepening CAP’s haerenga journey.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • In conjunction with the executive leadership team, shape, influence and embed CAP’s vision, values, impact model and culture
  • Effectively motivate, support and empower a team of x4 HR professionals
  • Create and drive CAP’s people strategy, ensuring all deliverables are met
  • Strengthen CAP’s leadership and organisational capabilities, ensuring managers and leaders are being developed to deliver on the needs of the organisation
  • Equip organisation with the competencies, tools and environment to outwork their roles
  • Strengthen CAP’s Health and Safety offerings, ensuring all risks are identified and managed
  • Represent CAP at various fundraising events  as required
  • Lead and contribute to organisational wide projects

About you

You are an experienced executive level leader, excited to bring your leadership and expertise to enable the greatest possible impact for whānau experiencing money chaos in Aotearoa.

You are an influential leader, who challenges yourself and others. You don’t opt to take a path of least resistance. Instead, you leverage your skills and expertise to do what is right for the Kaupapa and the people you’re serving.

You are ready to undertake a journey – not only committed to your own professional and personal transformation, but you are deeply invested in enabling transformation in others.

You’ll also bring relevant experience for the role:

  • 5+ years proven experience in a similar role
  • A strong personal alignment with the foundational Christian philosophy, organisational identity, culture, and values of CAP
  • Proven ability to lead individuals and teams, including leading leaders
  • Strong experience balancing both strategic and operational priorities
  • Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to positively influence team culture and performance
  • Strong discernment and ability to navigate complex and ambiguous situations
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to facilitate organisational work and programmes to increasingly honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi
