Are you able to be a team player in a commercial kitchen? Do you enjoy being at the hub of the operation in a hospitality centre? Can you share your kitchen skills with others as you produce meals for our staff and guests? Do you enjoy working with all ages?

You would enjoy working in a Christian community as a live-in Head Chef. The kitchen/dining area is the heart of our community with all our visitors and residents coming together, so creating a welcoming, open environment is essential.

You’ll either be a qualified chef or an experienced cook, likely from a camp, resort or hotel background, who has solid catering experience and a good sense of humour. You’ll manage our commercial kitchen producing quality healthy food (while working within a budget) for 20 – 200 people, depending on guest numbers, with some alternatives to meet dietary requirements.

You’re able to maintain the quality of food and provide variety to keep meals interesting for long-staying guests. You’ll plan meals, order food, manage the food safety control plan, maintain kitchen hygiene, train volunteers, generally organise the kitchen, supervise the team and ensure meals are prepared as needed.

Ideal Personal Attributes:

·   Have a naturally welcoming attitude with a real sense of hospitality

·   Enjoy working with others

·   Kind-hearted and able and willing to work long hours when required

·   Manage tasks with grace and clarity

·   Balance competing demands and priorities well

·   Team player and willing to contribute and to grow alongside the onsite community

·   You will need to be available to work evenings, weekends and school holidays when required
