PACT is a Christian charitable trust that has been serving the Papatoetoe community since 1995, transforming lives by mentoring and investing in rangatahi and strengthening whānau. We’re excited to offer a unique and rewarding opportunity for a Youth Pastor and Community Youth Worker to join our passionate and dynamic team.
About Papatoetoe Community Church
Established over 20 years ago, Papatoetoe Community Church is a close-knit community with a heart for making everyone in the local area feel welcome at their Sunday morning services. As a small congregation, PCC values personal connection and shared responsibility, with elders overseeing the church and members contributing through preaching, communion, and other aspects of worship.
About the role
This exciting position (12 month fixed term role 30 hours per week, with potential to grow to 40 hours) offers the chance to combine two key areas of ministry:
As Youth Pastor at PCC (50%):
- Be part of the preaching roster.
- Build and lead a youth group or small group to foster connection, discipleship, and a sense of belonging.
- Support PCC’s outreach efforts.
- Manage PCC’s social media and website to engage with the church and wider community.
- Help develop a youth worship band and encourage musical leadership among rangatahi.
- Regular reporting and accountability to church elders.
As a Community Youth Worker at PACT (50%):
- Lead youth development programmes designed to empower and support rangatahi and their whānau.
- Provide mentoring, spiritual guidance, and holistic support for rangatahi, including those in PACT’s alternative education programme, Te Kupenga.
- Manage PACT’s communications, including social media, newsletters, and website updates.
- Collaborate with schools and other organisations to deliver impactful youth initiatives.

What we’re looking for
We’re seeking a faith-driven individual who:
- Is passionate about working with rangatahi and helping them discover their purpose and identity in Christ.
- Has strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Can balance the demands of two interconnected roles while maintaining a heart for service and community.
- Ideally has completed some biblical studies.
- Has experience in youth work, pastoral care, or community engagement (preferred but not essential).
