Unsung Heroes Awards 2017

Unsung Heroes Awards 2017

Shortly after the 2011 Christchurch earthquake, in recognition of the contribution of churches in providing hope and comfort as well as material assistance, NZ Christian Network’s board inaugurated a new award, known as the New Zealand Christian Network Unsung Heroes Awards.

The purpose of these awards is to honour the good work of individuals and groups which have gone largely unrecognised, to encourage others, and to give glory to God who inspired and empowered them.

In an age which has forgotten or never knew the significance of Christianity in our history, and which increasingly does not appreciate the importance of God in our country today, we are grateful for the privilege of being able to hold this event at Parliament and celebrate what God is doing in and through the lives of people. We are thankful also this year to Hon Simon O’Connor who will host the event.

The awards are presented in categories related to New Zealand Christian Network’s key projects – Secularism, Marriage & Family, Value of Life, and Missional Living.

Parliament Prayer

7:20pm Thursday 17th September

Grand Hall, Parliament Buildings, Wellington

As we prepare for the last Prayer@Parliament gathering this year can I ask that you also prepare with pre-prayer. Please pray especially that the Grand Hall be filled to capacity (220 seats) and that those people who have said they would attend actually turn up on the night.

Please also pray for everyone involved in the organisation, for protection, wisdom and strength. Lastly, please pray for those people God has called to speak and provide input, that a path would be made clear for them to participate and to speak the words our Lord wants us to hear and pray about.

One of the Prayer Tracks will be on “Challenges Facing a Christian Ambassador”. Input will be from H.E. Virginia Benavidez, Ambassador for Philippines who is an outstanding Christian. Her term in New Zealand is coming to an end.

You might also wish to visit the download page at http://www.prayeratparliament.org.nz/downloads and print off some cards to hand out to your friends or a poster for your church noticeboard. Invite a friend and encourage others to do the same.

Registration is required if you wish to attend this event.
