The Mission Commission is a community of leaders serving in God’s mission that strategically serves as a catalyst for the global missions community to promote greater effectiveness in mission for God’s glory in all the world. A commission of the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA), we are an international and inter-generational community of global mission leaders who proactively reflect on shared issues in order to advance God’s mission.
We stand as disciples of Jesus with national and regional missions alliances, movements, global networks, international associations, and individual missions organisations, with the objective of encouraging and assisting churches to engage in God’s mission. We create spaces to address crucial issues in missions practice. We gather as reflective practitioners, in dependence upon the Holy Spirit, to explore these issues with a view to developing solutions applicable to real-world grass-roots ministry contexts.
Over 50 countries have been identified as “sending nations.” These are nations with a significant Evangelical missions presence. For more than four decades, the Mission Commission has dedicated its resources to strengthening existing missions groups, as well as promoting new movements in nations with a fledgling understanding of their responsibility to witness to the gospel within their nations and from their nations to every nation.
