The role
This is a hands-on senior finance role for someone who enjoys both the technical detail of accounting and the relational work of helping others make good decisions. You’ll bring financial clarity to a mission-driven organisation, strengthen day-to-day finance processes, and help ensure resources are stewarded well for the benefit of vulnerable communities.
The role is varied and will see you working alongside our COO to deliver timely, accurate and practical finance services across the organisation. You will help strengthen core finance processes, provide clear insight for decision-making, and support managers to steward resources well. Including;
Budgeting and forecasting
Reconciliations
Preparation of annual financial accounts
Preparation of clear and insightful reports for the Board and senior leadership team
Overseeing payroll
Monthly and annual reporting, including monthly budget-versus-actual variance analysis
Preparation of GST returns
Collaborating with managers to encourage good stewardship and guide resource allocation
Assisting in disaster planning projects, including advice, costing and financial planning
Ensuring audit requirements are understood and met
Writing and reviewing business cases
Helping to oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliations and finance projects
About you:
We’re looking for someone who has:
4+ years’ post-graduate experience in an accounting role in New Zealand, ideally with full CA status or progress towards completion
Working knowledge of budget, reporting, GST and audit processes in New Zealand
Strong Excel skills and sound knowledge of accounting systems
Experience overseeing finance functions such as payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable and reconciliations
Proven experience working collaboratively with managers and taking a solution-based approach
Experience clearly communicating financial information to non-financial stakeholders
