Bethlehem College is a non-denominational, co-educational Christian College (Y1 -13), in a beautiful work setting located in the sunny Bay of Plenty. The College’s emphasis is on applying biblical principles to all aspects of the school curriculum and life.  An undertaking to commit to the College’s Special Character is a condition of all appointments.

Christian thought and practice are integrated across the curriculum, which is broad based and includes excellence in academics, sports, the performing arts and the shaping of moral leadership and service.

Applications are open for the position of Counsellor at our Bethlehem Tauranga campus to cover a period of parental leave from August 2024 until May 2025, working part-time, 24 hours per week over 4 days.  These hours will be worked when the school is open for instruction.

Key Responsibilities:

The position reports to the Head of Counselling and the successful applicant will be an NZAC/ NZACC registered counsellor, with experience working with children and youth from Years 1 to 13 and their whanau/family; will also be able to work with a range of modalities to support varying needs in our learning community; will build and maintain networks with external agencies, work as a member of a collaborative and established counselling team, work with teachers, groups of students, and work efficiently under pressure.

 

Key Qualifications and Skills:

 

•      A strong willingness to fully commit to the special Christian character, mission, and vision of Bethlehem College.

•      Commitment to a life sustained by a vital Christian faith.

•      Qualified Counsellor/mental health professional with a degree in Counselling, Social Work or Psychology.

•      Current memberships with NZCCA or NZAC and commitment to the NZAC Code of Ethics or equivalent professional association.

•      Experience of working with Primary age students in an educational school setting is preferable.

•      Ability to maintain confidentiality and records consistent with ethical and legal guidelines.

•      Operate within Ministry of Education Guidelines, and school procedures and policies.

 

Remuneration:

$37 per hour.
