The Role

We are looking for an experienced Retail Operations Manager with a passion for retail and a heart for purpose-driven work. You will oversee the sales, customer experience, and distribution functions across our eight Manna Christian Stores and e-commerce platforms. As a strategic leader, you will help drive operational excellence, align with our mission, and support the distribution of Christian resources throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Sales and Customer Experience Leadership:  Lead the sales and customer experience functions across all retail and e-commerce platforms. You will develop and implement cohesive strategies to maximise sales opportunities and provide a high-quality customer experience that aligns with BSNZ Group’s mission.
  • Operational Excellence:  Oversee budget management, people management, and system operations, including CRM, POS, and web-based platforms, to drive efficiency and meet financial targets. You will ensure effective use of resources to maintain a sustainable and mission-driven retail operation.
  • Team Leadership:  Inspire and lead a diverse team, including Retail Shop Managers, Distribution Centre staff, and Customer Experience Representatives. Your leadership will cultivate a mission-focused workplace culture that promotes excellence and supports BSNZ’s organisational values.
  • Distribution Centre Oversight:  Provide strategic direction to the Distribution Centre, optimising warehouse space, ensuring inventory accuracy, and managing stock levels to meet sales demand. Collaborate with the procurement team to align inventory management with sales trends and financial goals.
  • Comprehensive Sales Channel Strategy:  Design and implement comprehensive sales strategies for retail stores, e-commerce, and trade customers (including churches, schools, and institutional buyers). These strategies will drive growth, increase customer engagement, and support BSNZ’s mission of making the Bible accessible.
  • Event Planning and Customer Engagement:  Collaborate with internal teams to plan and execute events that promote customer engagement and align with BSNZ’s broader mission. You will also contribute to driving sales growth through promotional activities.
  • Financial and Process Management:  Take responsibility for overseeing the financial performance of retail operations and the Distribution Centre, ensuring budgets are adhered to, and financial targets are met. Continuously improve operational processes by integrating new technologies and best practices.

 

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) salaried position based in Wiri, Auckland.

 

What We Are Looking For

  • A bachelor’s degree in a commercial discipline or significant commercial experience.
  • Extensive experience in retail management (in-store and online).
  • Proven success in leading a medium-sized business unit, with a focus on customer experience and operational efficiency.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and strategic planning.
  • Knowledge of Christian retail is desirable but not essential.
  • Personal alignment with BSNZ Group’s Christian values and mission.
