CANCELLED – Emmanuel Family Camp

EVENT CANCELLED

Plans are still underway for the National Camp in October.

Emmanuel Family Camp is a weekend of support, encouragement and fun for families living with disability. It’s a weekend designed for the whole family; children with disabilities, siblings and parents.

We have kids and youth programmes in the mornings with a variety of activities, planned with the attending kids/youth in mind. While parents meet for worship, guest speaker and a time of sharing. Afternoons are relaxed with optional activities for the whole family.

Your family will be assigned a volunteer helper to assist at mealtimes and activities. They are not able to assist with personal cares so if you need to bring a carer with you make sure to include them on your registration form.

This is an amazing opportunity for volunteers as well, to support a family, get to know some amazing people and have fun at the same time!

Our Disability Awareness Seminar is a great foundation for those wanting to gain a better understanding of what it is like to live with a disability and for people interested in volunteering with us. We would encourage anyone who wants to learn how to be more inclusive to join us.

The day includes:

  • personal experiences of disability shared by those living with a disability
  • communication techniques
  • biblical perspective of disability
  • common attitudes and beliefs about disability
  • practical simulations and debriefing
  • demonstration of adaptive equipment

By attending the seminar you will be:

  • more aware of barriers faced by those living with a disability
  • challenged to consider your attitudes and beliefs about disability
  • provided an opportunity to hear from and talk with people who live with a disability
  • equipped to help remove barriers for communication and interaction

This day is hugely subsidised as we want to ensure anybody interested is able to attend.

Elevate National Camp

Our National Camp is held every year on Labour Weekend. Since its small beginnings in the 1980’s it has expanded to an annual camp of over 300 people.

This is a wonderful place for people with and without disabilities to share their faith, encourage others, grow and make new friendships. One first time helper sums it up perfectly ‘simply put, it is an amazing place.  A place where difficulties are overcome, challenges are met and people live with others in mind.  A place where wholeness is made possible by hearts that decide that is the way it is going to be.’

Whether you come as a camper or a helper you will be blessed, challenged and encouraged as we explore “what’s in me, for you”.

Matthew 25:40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
