West Hamilton Community Church is a member of the Church of Confessing Anglicans Aotearoa / New Zealand.

By the grace of God we were one of the initial twelve churches to form a new Anglican Diocese in New Zealand in May 2019. We stand firmly in Anglican faith and practice, and are structurally distinct from the Anglican Church of Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia (ACANZP). WHCC was formed in July 2014 when the West Hamilton Anglican Parish was ousted from the ACANZP Province after its Minister and all Vestry members withdrew their submission to the authority of ACANZP General Synod. General Synod had passed a motion on human sexuality which was both contrary to the clear teaching of Scripture and in breach of its own Constitution. 95% of the congregation voted to stay together and continue its mission as a church family in West Hamilton. Only the name of the church and its places of meeting changed.
