Bethlehem College, a non-denominational, co-educational Christian College (Y1 -13), places strong emphasis on integrating Biblical principles into its curriculum and daily life.  Renowned for delivering quality all round Christian education, our curriculum encompasses academic excellence, sports, performing arts and the shaping of moral leadership and service. We are currently seeking a Library Resource and Information Assistant to join our dedicated team in a permanent, full-time position 40 hours per week, 41 weeks per year, Monday to Friday or a Job Share (days and times to be negotiated).

Key Responsibilities:
– Library resource management: classify, catalogue library materials, maintain and organize stock.
– Student support: Facilitate book circulation, provide guidance on library processes and support research and reading activities.
– Team collaboration and maintenance of the library:  Work with library and teaching staff to monitor student behaviour, set up displays and maintain an inviting library space.
– Administration: Process catalogues, overdue notices, and lost books.
– Assist with Library research, photocopying, printing, and other general enquiries.

Key Qualifications and Skills:
– Post Secondary Certificate or Diploma in a relevant field or previous experience in a library or school environment.
– A strong willingness to fully commit to the special Christian character, mission, and vision of Bethlehem College.
– Commitment to a life sustained by a vital Christian faith.
– Demonstrate a genuine passion for books and reading and inspire this love in others.
– Ability to work effectively within a team.
– Excellent organisation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
– Show initiative/creativity in task completion.
– Strong interpersonal skills coupled with a professional demeanour.
– Adaptability to handle diverse situations and tasks.
– Appreciate and respect the diversity, heritage, language, and culture of all students, their whanau and College staff.
– Demonstrated commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and willingness to make the effort to use te reo Māori in carrying out this role.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
– Experience in library and student information systems is desirable (however, training will be provided).

Remuneration:
In accordance with the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement. Grade B, Step 1 (Librarian and Library Assistant Pay Rates)
