Pathways College of Bible & Mission (PCB&M) exists to equip Christians for life and leadership through quality biblical training that is gospel-centred, spiritually enriching, and ministry-focused. Located in Tauranga, we offer NZQA-accredited theological programmes through a blended learning model of face-to-face, internship-based, and online modes of delivery.

Our students are geographically spread throughout New Zealand and undertake their tertiary study in a wide range of faith-based contexts [local church, camps, schools, support agencies, community agencies].

Pathways College of Bible & Mission seeks a Field Education Lead to join its vibrant staff and faculty.  The opportunity to live out your faith in a strategic tertiary role does not come around often.  This is a permanent, part-time role.

 

Role Purpose

The Field Education Lead ensures that field education, a significant component of Pathways’ diploma programmes, effectively integrates theory and practice, thereby preparing students for highly practical forms of service in real-world ministry contexts. The Lead responsible for ensuring that field education is delivered with academic rigour, theological integrity, and high-quality student support. This role also entails teaching several papers within both diploma programmes.

 

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and deliver all aspects of field education at Pathways College of Bible & Mission, which specifically includes the following:

•        Teaching Responsibilities.

The Lead prepares and delivers several field education papers, namely: MIN510A Supervised Ministry Training (30 credits); MIN510B Extended Supervised Ministry Training (30 credits); DCL604 Working With Groups (15 credits); and DCL606 Leadership in Context (30 credits).

•        Student and Placement Relationship Management.

The Lead develops relationships with students and their mentors, ensuring robust processes are followed in placement organisations and assisting students in resolving issues pertaining to internships or placements.

•        Academic Management.

Participation on internal boards dealing with academic management (e.g., Academic Board; Board of Examiners) and working with academic staff on activities pertaining to academic management.

•        Field Education Development.

Improving existing field educational offerings and developing new offerings in accordance with best practices in field education.

 

Key Relationships

The Field Education Lead is a member of staff and faculty, working particularly with the Principal, Academic Director, and Academic Dean. Relationships with students, churches and other placement organisations, and with mentors are important to successful performance in this role.

 

Key Requirements:

·         Demonstrated commitment to a living faith, doctrinal integrity and the mission of theological education.

·         Postgraduate qualification in a related field, biblical studies, theology, applied theology, etc.).

·         Previous experience working and/or leadership in a church or other faith-based organisation.

·         Experience in tertiary-level teaching including content delivery and marking..

·         Understanding of and ability to contribute to the development of field education in ministry training.

·         Commitment to and experience with Treaty of Waitangi relationships and Te Ao Māori educational principles.
