Job Title: Children’s Pastor
Children ages: 0–10-years-old
Hours: 5 per week @ $28.00 per hour
Organisation: Welcome Bay Community Church (WBCC)
The Place of Work: Flexible Location
The employee shall perform his/her duties at the Welcome Bay Community Church, 340 Welcome Bay Rd, Tauranga, from his/her residence, and at such other places as are necessary for the proper performance of his/her duties.
Accountability: Pastors and Leadership Team
The employee will be directly responsible to the Pastors (Frank & Aimee Sharplin) for spiritual and ministry guidance AND to the Leadership Team for overall support and accountability.

General Expectations:

• To create a welcoming, fun, and safe environment for children to grow their relationship with God and others.
• To disciple children through Biblical teaching appropriate to their development stage.
• To develop and maintain good relationships with children in the church and their parents.
• Build and train a team of volunteers to help facilitate the various children’s programmes.
• To develop and maintain relationships with other children/youth pastors/leaders and ministries in the community.
• Attend Leadership meetings every third month.

• A passion for children and sense of call to work with them.
• Good people skills – maintaining relationships with parents and relating to children in a caring and compassionate manner and able to effectively handle conflict.
• Leadership ability, including competence in developing volunteer leaders and mobilising teams.
• Well organised and able to work with a budget.
• Good communicator.
• Team player.

Key Responsibilities:

• Sunday kids programme – Facilitate the Sunday kids programme in partnership with volunteer helpers, where children learn about Jesus, His Word, be discipled, and have fun.
• Wriggle Time – Facilitate weekly Wriggle Time programme (similar to Mainly Music) in partnership with volunteer helpers, where children can have fun and parents get comfortable in a church environment.
• Administration – Plan Sunday kid’s programme and communicate plans to leaders/volunteers rostered on. Plan and set up for Wriggle Time – choose songs, upload lyrics, and have the space ready. Organise rosters. Manage children’s budget. Maintain relevant H&S protocols and develop new protocols when necessary. Attend Leadership meeting (every third month).
• Community – Develop/maintain relationships with key people in the community, e.g. other children’s pastors, community workers (community centre, social services), etc.
