The NZCN is pleased to announce that Mark Powell was elected as Chair of the Board, effective as from 1 December 2018. Mark brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to see the Christian Church in New Zealand flourish. We are very much looking forward to Mark’s input into the next stage of our development over the coming months.

Mark has been married to Maria for 28 years and they have two married daughters. He is originally from South Wales and started out in underground coal mining before transitioning to a career in logistics then retail, ultimately becoming CEO of The Warehouse Group.

He came to faith through Alpha in New Zealand sixteen years ago, becoming a qualified Baptist Pastor with an Applied Theology degree through Carey Theological College in Auckland, and has an MA in Christian Apologetics from Biola University in the USA.

Mark now has a number of commercial and Christian not-for-profit board roles, as well as teaching at Carey and being an adjunct professor at Auckland University Business School. He regularly speaks at churches and conferences in New Zealand.
